Our full-day Kindergarten Class is a natural outgrowth of the Children’s Studio preschool. To enter, your child must be 5 years old by 9/1 of the new school year. Within a 16-student class, our child:staff ratio is approximately 8:1.

Each school day features a Language Arts and Literature Block and a Mathematics and Numbers Block. Classroom management requires that each child sign-in daily, be responsible for a weekly job, move a name-stick to indicate choices and whereabouts from the K-Activity Board, and date and file projects and papers into their own portfolios. Singing, group games, snack, lunch, and recess are also part of each day.

Creative and friendly Specialty Teachers teach Spanish and World Music. Thematic projects, such as nature studies, our world, and health and safety topics, are important parts of the curriculum. Activities are challenging, yet remain concrete, hands-on, and meaningful to the kindergarten child. Our Kindergarten curriculum is planned using The Guidelines for Preschool Learning Experiences (PreK-Grades 1-4), newly created by the Massachusetts Department of Education (DOE) and based on the Massacuhusetts Curriculum Frameworks.
